Hi, I'm Robelle — an immigrant, a proud mother, and an independent insurance broker based in Milton, Ontario.
I came to Canada at 21, filled with hope for a better future for my daughter and our family. Like many immigrants, I faced the harsh reality that my professional qualifications from back home weren’t recognized here without a Canadian equivalency. Despite having a career in my home country, I had to start over.
Determined to build a better life, I juggled work and school at the same time. I worked night shifts at a fast-food restaurant from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., went to school from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and squeezed in a part-time job as a caregiver in the evenings. It was exhausting. I was merely surviving—not truly living. But through it all, I’m forever grateful to my family who helped take care of my daughter when I couldn’t be there.
In 2019, I earned my diploma in Business Administration. I still continued working in fast food until someone referred me to a dental office. Even though I had no experience in the field, my boss believed in me and offered to train me. I held onto both jobs—starting my day at 4 a.m. in fast food and ending it at 7 p.m. in the dental office. It was tough, but I was willing to do whatever it took for my daughter’s future.
That same year, I obtained my LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) license, but I didn’t realize the full potential of that license until the pandemic hit. While the world paused, bills didn’t—and that’s when I truly saw the value of the financial industry.
In 2021, I attended a bootcamp in Scarborough that changed my life. One of the speakers, a fellow millennial, asked a question that hit me deeply:
“Why are you doing what you’re doing? Who is your why?”
Tears rolled down my cheeks. I realized I had been working so hard, yet sacrificing the very time I wanted most—with my daughter.
That day, I made a promise to myself: to live intentionally, to prioritize what truly matters. I quit my fast-food job and committed fully to becoming an independent insurance broker.
It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Not only did I find purpose in educating others about their finances, but I also discovered freedom—freedom of time, freedom of income, and freedom to live life on my own terms. In just two and a half months, I earned what I used to make in a year. I took my daughter on a Caribbean cruise, something I once thought was impossible. I even brought my sister on a Mediterranean cruise. But more than travel, I gained something priceless—financial independence and the ability to live with purpose.
My journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. And now, I help others believe that no matter where you start, you can build the life you deserve.
